Elder Mediation

Elder Mediation refers to mediation involving issues about the care of aging parents, relatives or friends. Typically there is a decision that needs to me made, often urgently, that is about the care of a parent and the siblings cannot agree for whatever reason.  Because it involves family, it is easy for emotions to ignite and a discussion that started about a parent becomes angry accusations about past family events. Elder mediation can include resolving conflicts or making decisions about:

-Where a dependent parent will live – at home with in home care, in assisted living or in a long term care facility

-Who will serve as Guardian and/or Power of Attorney

-Continuing artificial life support

-Making final arrangements

-Will Contests

-Distribution of parent’s estate when there is no will

-Family business succession
